Technical Specifications
Presently, four types of rolling stock are used on the Vienna metro system. These can be divided into two main groups: the standard stock used on lines U1, U2, U3 and U4 and the light rail stock used on line U6. This is necessary because line U6 has a number of listed buildings, bridges and viaducts built by Otto Wagner, so a conversion to full metro was not possible.
